How Dr. Ash can support you and your pet

Every family, pet, and situation is unique. Together we’ll talk through your pet’s condition, your concerns, and the most compassionate options for their comfort.

In-home euthanasia
Gentle, peaceful goodbye at home

A calm, unhurried visit in your home where your pet can rest on their favourite bed or blanket. First, a relaxing sedation is given so they fall into a deep sleep. When you’re ready, a second medication is administered to peacefully let them go.

Palliative support
Quality-of-life guidance

If you’re not sure whether “it’s time,” we can review your pet’s medical history, pain, mobility, appetite, and daily joy. Dr. Ash can help you assess their quality of life and talk through what to expect as their condition changes.

Aftercare
Cremation & memorial options

After your pet has passed, you may choose communal or private cremation. Your pet’s body is treated with dignity and respect, and options for urns or paw prints can be discussed in advance so you’re not rushed on the day.

What to expect

A calm, clear process from start to finish

Knowing what will happen can ease some of the fear. Dr. Ash will explain each step, answer your questions, and move at your pace so you never feel rushed.

Initial contact

Call or text with your pet’s details, location, and any urgent concerns. We’ll discuss availability, fees, and what to expect during the visit.

At-home visit

When Dr. Ash arrives, he’ll meet your pet, review medical history or medications, and confirm your wishes. Your pet will receive a gentle sedative to fall into a deep sleep.

Saying goodbye

Once your pet is fully relaxed and unaware, the final injection is given. The passing is usually very quick and peaceful. You may spend as much time as you need.

Aftercare & cremation

If you’ve chosen cremation, your pet is gently transported with respect. Ashes are returned according to the chosen option, or you may choose home burial where permitted.

FAQ

Common questions about in-home euthanasia

There is rarely a “perfect” moment, but there are signs that a pet’s quality of life is declining — ongoing pain, difficulty moving, trouble breathing, repeated vomiting or diarrhea, not wanting to eat, or no longer enjoying the things they once loved. A quality-of-life assessment and conversation with a vet can help you make a loving decision.
Yes, if you feel it is appropriate for your family. Some families prefer children to say goodbye before the final injection; others want them present for the whole visit. Other pets may also be allowed to see or smell their friend afterwards, which can help them process the loss.
Most visits are about 45–60 minutes, but there is no rush. The time includes a calm introduction, explanation of the process, the relaxing sedation, the final injection, and any quiet time you want afterwards.
In-home visits are available throughout Toronto and much of the GTA. Fees depend on your pet’s weight, location, and aftercare choice. The simplest way to get an estimate is to call or text with your city, nearest major intersection, your pet’s species and weight.
