Pet Quality of Life Scale — Should I Consider Euthanasia?

When Is In-Home Pet Euthanasia Recommended?

A declining quality of life can indicate your pet is suffering more than enjoying life. Families in Toronto and the GTA consider in-home pet euthanasia when several of these signs appear most days:

  • Pain & breathing comfort — respiratory distress outweighs other concerns
  • Mobility — difficulty standing or walking, frequent falls, seizures
  • Appetite & hydration — persistent nausea, weight loss, poor intake
  • Joy & connection — reduced interest in family, toys, or daily routines
  • More bad days than good — the “good day” count continues to drop

We’re here to help with compassionate guidance, whether you choose hospice support or a peaceful in-home goodbye.

Private Cremation (Ashes Returned)

Your pet is cremated individually, and their ashes are returned to you in a standard urn (metal or wooden included). This option allows you to keep your pet’s cremated remains close to you as a personal memorial.

Communal Cremation (No Ashes Returned)

Your pet is gently cremated together with other pets, and the ashes are respectfully placed in a communal burial area. No ashes are returned with this option, but you may add a paw print or memorial keepsake if you wish.
